DescriptionSome jurisdictions offer applicants the choice of hiring a private plan review consultant, a third party, to review plans on behalf of the jurisdiction. Typically, jurisdictions have a list of approved plan review agencies from which the applicant may select. WC3 is approved to provide third party reviews for several California jurisdictions. Although the contract is between the applicant and WC3, our company is still representing the government agencies interest, and reviews the plans for conformance to their adopted building codes and ordinances.
There are several advantages to third party review. First, as with expedited plan reviews, arrangements can be made to accommodate the applicant's schedule. Second, WC3 coordinates and communicates directly with the applicants, developers, architects, and engineers. Our staff functions as an integral part of the design team - working together to meet aggressive deadlines and ensuring the intention of the building codes are met. Finally, there are many instances where a preliminary review is provided to avoid developing plans with significant code discrepancies. These advantages help the applicant avoid possible delays in the plan review process.
