JOB DESCRIPTION:
West Coast Code Consultants, Inc. (WC³) is currently seeking experienced candidate(s) for the position of Senior Civil Plan Check Engineer to join our team in the Civil Engineering and Public Works Division. We are seeking a motivated individual with a commitment to excellence and a desire to serve the needs of jurisdictional clients. Candidates will be responsible for reviewing complex land development civil engineering improvement plans, traffic studies, traffic control plans, stormwater, sanitary sewer, and domestic water hydrological studies, for compliance with applicable municipal, standards, and ordinances.
This position will be managed from our Oakland Regional Office in California with an opportunity for remote or hybrid work schedules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- During the planning entitlement phase of development, reviews proposed private development improvement plans and prepare draft Public Works Department Conditions of Approvals for public agency clients.
- During the permit phase of development, reviews and provides written comments on complex private development Civil Engineering improvement plans, traffic studies, traffic control plans, and hydrology studies for conformance to public agency standards and specifications.
- Reviews subdivision maps for technical correctness and provides written comments.
- Confers with public agency client representatives and discusses technical and policy problems.
- Performs QA/QC review of plan reviews performed by lower-level staff.
- Takes responsibility for ensuring review processes remain timely and within the established expectations for turnaround and client service.
- May act as a project manager for Public Agency Capital Improvement Projects.
- Most of the work will be completed at a computer, sitting, or standing for periods of time.
- May occasionally visit construction sites to see different phases and methods of construction. Visits may consist of hazards and require a high degree of attention or caution.
- Make special efforts to promote goodwill in the office.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a 4-year degree in Civil Engineering.
- Must be licensed as a Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in the State of California.
- Must have 10 years of professional engineering experience in civil, or traffic engineering.
- Public Agency work experience in Land Development is preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam software is preferred.
- Must possess proficient English writing skills.
- The job requires the ability to drive.
SALARY:
$140K – $170K, Annually, depending on experience.
